Kevin Morris has just taken up a new appointment within the School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. After completing his PhD at UCDavis in 2001, Prof. Morris undertook a Post-Doc at UC SanDiego, where he made seminal discoveries on the use of siRNA in mammalian cells, before taking up a position as Assistant Professor at the Scripps Institute in 2005. At Scripps he was also as an adjunct Professor with The Beckman Research Institute. His research program has extended RNA biology into therapeutics, and a current major focus is on the modulation of gene-specific epigenetic states and transcription by non-coding RNAs. Prof. Morris received the Outstanding young investigator award, American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy (2010) and was Listed as one of 30 “Tomorrow PI’s” by Genome Technology (2008). He is on the editorial board of ‘Gene Therapy and Molecular Biology, Frontiers in Oncology and Molecular Therapy Nucleic acids.
