Professor Dan Ye

Fudan University, China

Dr. Dan Ye completed her undergraduate studies at Zhejiang University, P. R. China in 2002 where she majored in Biology Technology. Afterwards, she majored in Genetics and got her master degree at Zhejiang University. In 2005, she joined the PhD program at Leiden University, the Netherland. Upon completing her PhD in 2008, she stayed at Leiden/Amsterdam Center for Drug Research, Leiden University, as a postdoctoral fellow. There, she continued to study macrophage cholesterol homeostasis and cardiovascular disease. In 2011, she joined the Institutes of Biomedical Sciences, Fudan University as an associated professor and then became a professor. Her research at Fudan University is directed towards a better understanding the metabolism-chromatin axis and the relevance of epigenetic and metabolic dysregulation in a range of diseases including cancer, and her recent work defined 1) several metabolic intermediates (e.g. succinate, fumarate, itaconate, ect) which regulate the activity of TET enzymes; 2) TET2, DNMT3A1, and other epigenetic enzymes which interact with sequence-specific transcription factors to regulate target genes and cell metabolism; 3) tumor-associated metabolites in malignant transformation and/or reprogramming tumor-associated macrophages. In 2019, Dr. Ye started her independent laboratory and her research program is continuously focused on in-depth understanding of the mechanisms for epigenetic and metabolic dysregulation during tumorigenesis and identification of potential drug targets for treating cancer.
