Mochtar Riady Institute for Nanotechnology, Indonesia

Dr. Pradiptajati Kusuma, a population geneticist, holds a Ph.D. in Biological Anthropology from Universite de Toulouse, France. He is a post-doctoral researcher at the Mochtar Riady Institute for Nanotechnology Indonesia. He is also an incoming visiting research fellow at the Laboratory of  Human Genomics and Evolution, St. Vincent's Institute of Medical Research, Melbourne. In his studies, Dr. Kusuma is working closely with a nomadic hunter-gatherer group in Indonesian Borneo, one of a vanishingly small number of groups worldwide still occupying karstic rock shelters, living in a network of shifting camps in the forest. Together with collaborators, he conducts a multidisciplinary research to study the Borneo hunter-gatherer population history and the biological impact of lifestyle transition, involving linguistic, social networks, mobility patterns, diet, genetics, expression, and microbiome.
